Wells' Criteria for Pulmonary Embolism

Wells' Criteria for Pulmonary Embolism

Wells' Score Interpretation:

  • Low Probability: 0–1 points
  • Moderate Probability: 2–6 points
  • High Probability: ≥7 points

Alternatively: PE unlikely if score ≤4 and PE likely if score >4.

Select Yes or No for each criteria based on patient history and exam, then click “Calculate Wells Score.” The result indicates risk of pulmonary embolism to guide further testing or treatment.

  • Wells criteria is a clinical prediction tool, not diagnostic on its own.
  • Clinical judgment remains crucial.
  • Use combined with D-dimer and imaging for decision-making.
  • Malignancy and recent surgery increase PE risk substantially.
